More than 100 graduates will continue to hospitals, schools, and healthcare roles across the country.

The AMSN Pinning and Awards Ceremony was held via video conference to follow social distancing guidelines. The event featured dynamic class speakers and an awards presentation honoring students who demonstrated excellence in leadership, service, collaboration, innovation, and personal character. The student award winners include:

  • AMSN Excellence: Giselle Campos
  • AMSN Collaboration: Nisha Patel
  • AMSN Social Responsibility: Cat Dymond
  • AMSN Innovation: Neethu Athimattathil
  • AMSN Leadership: Katiana Carey-Simms
  • AMSN Compassion and Caring: Mackenzie Weiland
  • AMSN Silver Bowl Award: Suzanne Williams

Student-nominated awards were also given to faculty on behalf of the Emory Student Nurses Association. These awards, known as the “Heart of the Students” awards, are given each year to staff and faculty who go above and beyond with their teaching and mentoring. This semester's Heart of the Students staff award was presented to Dr. Terri Ades, Program Director. The Heart of the Students faculty award was presented to Dr. Kenneth Mueller, Clinical Instructor.

Student speaker Giselle Campos spoke of the perseverance of her peers, thanked the faculty and staff for their encouragement, and expressed her appreciation for continued support from friends, family, and alumni.

“Not only have I admired our cohort’s compassionate heart, but I have also admired the pure intelligence, wittiness and overall passion for the health and wellbeing of others,” said Campos. “You all will forever inspire me. I am excited to make this transition alongside you.”

In the ceremony’s closing remarks, student speaker Cat Dymond thanked her peers for their support of each other, encouraging them to shape the nursing profession with their excellence.

“Nursing is not a solo endeavor. Community, connection, and collaboration became my mantra,” said Dymond. “It’s not enough to survive nursing school; we must thrive. Pooling our strengths and resources will make us mighty.”
